PROCEDURE
After determining the pose, background and
size, the commissioned portrait begins with a 40% deposit. A photo may be
supplied or photos will be taken by Elvin. The photograph is approved by you. A
short sitting may be required for the artist to paint a color study. If the
portrait has more than one subject or is a composite of several photographs, the
artist will render a compositional pencil sketch in his studio and present it
for your approval prior to beginning the painting. The painting will then be
completed in the studio. The average time for a single portrait is between 40 and 100 hours over a two
to six month period. At the completion, the painting will be delivered and the
balance of payment will be due in full.
Traditional portraits need a frame. Elvin will advise you about framing, or
accompany you to a framer of your choice and assist with the selection of a
frame. The cost of the frame is not included in the price of the portrait. If
you choose a modern style for the portrait and background, a gallery wrap canvas
may be used, eliminated the need for a frame.
Upon completion, minor
changes or corrections may be requested with no additional cost. After
completion, additional requests will be charged accordingly. After 6 months, the
artist will put a final coat of protective varnish on the painting. All
reference materials including the he photographs, color studies and sketches
will not be used for any other purpose, except with the clients consent, and
will remain the property of the artist.
Delivery usually ranges from 2 to 6 months for a single portrait. Because of the nature of the
process, delivery times are approximate!
If it becomes necessary for the artist to travel over 5o miles or ship the
painting, all expenses will be added to the cost of the portrait.
Guarantee
Each portrait is painted in the same time tested manor as the European masters. Only the best archival materials are used. An oil portrait will last hundreds of years.
Your satisfaction is guaranteed. If for any reason you are not 100% satisfied with your portrait, you may return it within 30 days for a full refund. At that time the portrait will become the property of the artist.
